Fall Composition Workshop, as part of the Boston New Music Festival
The Boston New Music Initiative (BNMI) is pleased to host a composition workshop as part of the Boston New Music Festival. The workshop will feature a member of our core ensemble, Clarinetist Yhasmin Valenzuela. Ms. Valenzuela will play through submissions and will provide instrument-specific feedback to the composer. The event will take place on September 23, 2017 from 3-4:30pm at the Record Co. in Boston. Please see below for submission specifications.
Advanced registration is required, and the workshop is limited to a maximum of 12 participants. All participants must be present at the workshop. Full members of BNMI can participate for free. Associate members and non-BNMI members* can participate for a $10 registration fee.
Attendance at this event (for anyone not submitting a piece) is free and open to the public.
Submission Specifications: Compositions must be for unaccompanied solo clarinet (sorry, no bass clarinet doublings). All pieces should be around five (5) minutes in length, or shorter. Any piece using electronics or tape must be reviewed in advance.
If you wish to submit a piece with electronics, please send your submission to our Artistic Director, Beth Ratay at bratay@bostonnewmusic.org.
*Because this workshop is part of the Boston New Music Festival, registration for this event will be open to non-BNMI members. Future workshops hosted by BNMI will only be open to our members. For details on membership, visit www.bostonnewmusic.org/membership.
