Description: Enjoy the great outdoors on a relaxing hike around Mt. Auburn.

4:00pm - Workshop: Recorder Composition Readings with Emily O'Brien
Description: Emily O’Brien will read and critique submitted works for recorder. To submit a piece for reading go to bostonnewmusic.org/submit after May 14, 2022.

8:00pm - Featured Concert: The Music of Speech
Description: BNMI teams up with the Cambridge Chamber Singers (CCS) for a rare concert event! All of BNMI’s works include spoken word, and CCS will perform works from a wide variety of time periods and styles for chorus and instruments. The night will also include the world premieres of two brand new works. Andrew Davis’ On the Nature of Things for chorus and Pierrot Ensemble plus percussion was commissioned by CCS and BNMI and Ania Vu’s Strange Birds for Pierrot Ensemble plus percussion and soprano was commissioned by BNMI.

Description: Learn about writing for marimba from a master player! Matt will also be reading several pieces and giving feedback. To have your piece read, submit at bostonnewmusic.org/submit

Description: Walk the Freedom Trail and see Boston’s most famous landmarks with BNMI staff and fellow composers. We will get some pizza lunch on the way (provided).
