Call for Videos

The Boston New Music Initiative is announcing a call for any video performance of new music to be programmed as part of BNMI’s fifteenth season Living Music Summit. Incorporated in 2010, BNMI aims to advance the careers of its members in the field of new music by serving as a resource for networking, professional development, commissioning, collaboration, and programming. The call is open for all acoustic, electro-acoustic, acousmaticand multimedia works by a living composer. The competition is open to all composers or performers with no restrictions.

The Living Music Summit digital series will present several 30 minute video collections released throughout the end of the 2024 season.

Details
  1. Duration. Works can be of any duration, although preference will be given to works which are 8 minutes or less.
  2. Number of Entries. There is no limit on the number of works a performer or composer may submit; however, each work should be submitted as a separate entry. The first submission is free, any additional submission will require a $10 fee.
  3. Membership. Composers wishing to submit scores must become Shout level members of BNMI. Shout It Out membership is $25 a year. Information on membership benefits can be found here. Please note that new memberships may take up to 24 hours to be approved (although usually much less). 
  4. File Formats. You will provide a link to download your complete video.
  5. Permission for Use. By submitting to this call, the submitter verifies that they have permission to distribute the audio and video submitted, and they give permission to BNMI to distribute free of charge. BNMI shall possess ownership of recorded audio and video and maintains the right to publicly distribute audio and video for promotional purposes. BNMI shall not publicly distribute the recording of any performance for financial gain.
